The molecule exerts both anticoagulant and antiplatelet effects, featuring rapid onset and eliminating frequent monitoring requirements.

The Phase II clinical study (MT1002-II-C05) evaluating its self-developed candidate drug MT1002 for anticoagulation in haemodialysis patients recently completed first patient enrolment, marking the official commencement of substantive implementation of the clinical trial.
MT1002 is the world’s first bifunctional antithrombotic peptide advancing into clinical development. It simultaneously antagonises coagulation factor II and GPIIb/IIIa, delivering dual anticoagulant and antiplatelet aggregation activities. This Phase II multicentre trial adopts a two-stage design. Stage 1 is a single-arm dose-finding phase to identify the optimal effective dose; Stage 2 is a randomised active-controlled trial against unfractionated heparin for efficacy verification. The current first enrolment corresponds to Stage 1 recruitment.
Globally, the number of patients receiving haemodialysis treatment is projected to reach 5.5 million by 2035 (including 2.8 million patients in China), representing substantial unmet clinical demand.
