TENNOR THERAP-B (06872.HK): prioritizes rifaquizinone intra-articular injection for PJI treatment

On October 30, TENNOR THERAP-B(06872.HK) prioritized intra-articular rifaquizinone for prosthetic joint infection as its lead indication.

NewTimeSpace News: According to the HKEX on October 30, TenNor Therapeutics (Suzhou) Limited ("TenNor", 06872.HK) announced that, after considering the clinical data, unmet needs, competitive landscape and commercial potential of its drug candidate rifaquizinone (TNP-2092), the company has selected intra-articular injection for the treatment of prosthetic joint infection (PJI) as the core priority indication for rifaquizinone.

According to the announcement, the Phase IIa proof-of-concept trial of rifaquizinone via intra-articular injection for PJI, as an alternative to surgery, achieved positive results, and the multi-center Phase IIb trial has completed first patient enrollment, aiming to further evaluate its efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetics without debridement or revision surgery.

The company said rifaquizinone is a first-in-class, triple-target drug candidate that synergistically inhibits bacterial RNA polymerase, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, showing potent antibacterial activity against drug-resistant pathogens. PJI is a serious complication after joint replacement, with about 45,000 new cases in the US and 22,000 in China each year, and the US FDA has granted rifaquizinone Qualified Infectious Disease Product, Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations.
