CGS noted that Hong Kong stocks got through this week amid continued disruption from external risk factors — elevated US Treasury yields, uncertainty surrounding the Jackson Hole symposium, and recurring geopolitical tensions — with multiple external pressures intertwined. However, the market did not fall apart; instead, it revealed new structural opportunities amid range-bound trading.

Next week, Hong Kong stocks will most likely continue their structurally divergent performance, with the main investment themes expected to center on areas with higher earnings visibility or independent catalysts. It is recommended to focus on: (1) the technology sector. For AI application leaders, large models, and related internet platforms, attention should be paid to their commercialization progress and earnings delivery capability; on the hardware side, attention should be paid to leading enterprises with technological barriers. (2) the pharmaceutical sector, with attention to innovative drugs and biotech. (3) high-dividend / dividend assets, with attention to banks, utilities, and energy. (4) the direction of interim-report earnings certainty, with attention to biomedicine, non-ferrous metals, and certain consumer sub-sectors.
