HK Stock Connect Daily Report: MSCI Adds Z.AI and KINGBOARD HLDG; Southbound Net Buying Reaches HK$2.1 Billion - 20260831

NewTimeSpace News: On August 31, Hong Kong's three major indices ended mixed, with the Hang Seng Index edging down 0.07% to 25,566.99 points and the Hang Seng TECH Index up 0.32%, on notably higher turnover of HK$314.8 billion. Mainland bank stocks rose against the trend, with BANK OF CHINA up 5.73% to a record high; mainland property developers opened higher but slumped across the board, with GREENTOWN CHINA down 17.58%, affected by the new real estate credit reform policy. Gold stocks fell broadly and airlines came under pressure after results. MINIMAX-W rose 16.18% and Z.AI gained 9.6%. Southbound capital recorded net buying of HK$2.139 billion. The MSCI China Index rebalance took effect today, adding Z.AI and KINGBOARD HLDG and removing seven Hong Kong stocks.

I. Market Overview

On August 31, Hong Kong's three major indices ended mixed. The Hang Seng Index edged down 0.07% to 25,566.99 points, the Hang Seng TECH Index rose 0.32%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.27%. Full-day turnover reached HK$314.819 billion, notably higher than the previous session.

On the trading front, mainland bank stocks rose against the trend. BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK) gained 5.73% to a record high, leading the six major state-owned banks in first-half net profit growth attributable to shareholders, with net interest margins stabilizing and recovering. Mainland property developers opened higher but closed lower, with GREENTOWN CHINA (03900.HK) down 17.58% and SUNAC (01918.HK) down 10.37%, affected by the new real estate credit reform policy. Gold stocks declined broadly, with LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) down 6.08%, as Warsh's hawkish remarks at Jackson Hole lifted rate-hike expectations. Airline stocks came under collective pressure, with the three major carriers posting combined first-half losses exceeding RMB 8 billion. PCB concept, insurance and coal stocks advanced.

Southbound capital recorded net buying of HK$2.139 billion on the day, of which Stock Connect (Shanghai) saw net buying of HK$2.058 billion and Stock Connect (Shenzhen) net buying of HK$0.081 billion.

IV. Industry and Corporate Updates

1. MSCI China Index Rebalance Takes Effect Today: Z.AI and KINGBOARD HLDG Added, 7 Hong Kong Stocks Removed

After the close on August 31, the quarterly rebalance of the MSCI China Index took effect. A total of 33 stocks were added, including two Hong Kong stocks—Z.AI (02513.HK) and KINGBOARD HLDG (00148.HK)—and 31 A-shares. By total market capitalization, Z.AI was the largest company among the new constituents added to the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. Seven Hong Kong stocks were removed: CHINA POWER (02380.HK), CHINA RUYI (00136.HK), GCL TECH (03800.HK), HESAI-W (02525.HK), KINGDEE INT'L (00268.HK), PONY-W (02026.HK) and XINYI SOLAR (00968.HK). Both Z.AI and KINGBOARD HLDG are Stock Connect eligible stocks.

2. Excelland Robotics Opens HK IPO Subscription Today, Entry Fee Around HK$3,949; SenseTime and 58.com as Cornerstone Investors

On August 31, delivery and cleaning robot maker Excelland Robotics (Wuxi) Co. Ltd. (03231.HK) announced details of its Hong Kong IPO, planned under Chapter 18C. The global offering comprises 45 million H shares, with the Hong Kong public offering accounting for approximately 5%. The offer price ranges from HK$14.45 to HK$19.55 per share, with 200 shares per board lot and an entry fee of approximately HK$3,949.44. The subscription period runs from today to September 4, with listing expected on September 9. The IPO has secured two cornerstone investors—SensePower Management Limited, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of SENSETIME-W (00020.HK), and CYGG Holding Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of 58 Group—with combined subscriptions of approximately US$3 million.

3. Dizal Pharmaceutical and Shanghai Vision Star Media File for HKEX Listing; Transwarp Passes HKEX Hearing

According to HKEX disclosure on August 27, Dizal Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (SH688192) and Shanghai Vision Star Media Co., Ltd. have submitted listing applications to the HKEX Main Board. Dizal is a biopharmaceutical company in the commercialization stage, focusing on oncology and hematological diseases. Vision Star Media is a leading integrated marketing service provider in China, ranking first in brand IP content marketing. Separately, Transwarp Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (SH688031) passed the HKEX Main Board listing hearing on August 27, with Haitong International as sole sponsor.

4. ALPHAMAB-B Plans H-Share Buyback of Up to HK$80 Million

On August 31, ALPHAMAB-B (09966.HK) announced a resolution to buy back its shares from the open market from time to time, for an aggregate amount of up to HK$80 million. ALPHAMAB-B is a Stock Connect eligible stock.

5. HOPE LIFE INT Issues Profit Alert; First-Half Net Profit No Less Than HK$4.7 Million

On August 26, HOPE LIFE INT (01683.HK) issued a profit alert, expecting first-half net profit of no less than HK$4.7 million, compared with a net loss of HK$0.7 million in the same period of 2025, turning profitable. HOPE LIFE INT is a Stock Connect eligible stock.
