CSPC PHARMA(01093.HK): Enters Collaboration, Option and Licence Agreement with AstraZeneca for siRNA Drug Development with USD30 Million Upfront Payment

The parties will jointly develop preclinical candidate compounds (PCCs) targeting two therapeutic targets with potential for treating kidney diseases, leveraging the Group’s proprietary siRNA drug discovery platform and extrahepatic targeted delivery platform. CSPC will receive an upfront payment of USD30 million, plus potential development milestone payments of up to USD540 million, sales milestone payments of up to USD1.2 billion, and single-digit royalties on net annual sales of commercialised products.
NewTimeSpace News: CSPC Pharmaceutical Group Limited (01093.HK) released an announcement dated 2 July 2026 stating that the Group has entered into a collaboration, option and licence agreement with AstraZeneca to develop novel small interfering RNA (siRNA) candidate therapeutics, utilising the Group’s proprietary siRNA discovery platform and extrahepatic targeted delivery platform empowered by AI molecular modelling and fully automated high-throughput screening systems.
The two parties will jointly identify and advance two preclinical candidate compounds (PCCs) directed at two distinct targets, which hold therapeutic potential across multiple kidney disease indications. For each PCC programme, AstraZeneca shall have an option to acquire exclusive rights for the development, manufacture and commercialisation of the asset worldwide or outside mainland China. CSPC retains all development, manufacturing and commercialisation rights for one of the two PCCs within mainland China.
Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, CSPC is entitled to an upfront cash payment of USD30 million. The Group is also eligible to receive potential milestone payments of up to USD540 million tied to clinical and developmental progress, up to USD1.2 billion in commercial sales milestone payments, plus tiered single-digit royalty rates calculated against the annual net sales of any successfully launched products.
