HUTCHMED (00013.HK): Orpathys plus Tagrisso cuts progression risk 44% in first-line EGFR-mutant lung cancer
NewTimeSpace News: On October 26, 2026, HUTCHMED (China) Limited (HUTCHMED, 00013.HK) announced positive results from the China Phase III SANOVO study of ORPATHYS® (savolitinib) plus TAGRISSO® (osimertinib) as first-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR mutations and MET overexpression, presented at the 2026 ESMO Congress as a proffered paper (abstract #LBA69).
The study enrolled 326 previously untreated patients. In the intention-to-treat (ITT) population, the combination reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 44% versus TAGRISSO® monotherapy (PFS HR 0.56; 95% CI 0.43-0.74; p<0.0001), with median PFS of 24.9 months versus 13.8 months. In patients with high MET levels (IHC 3+), the risk fell 55% (HR 0.45), with median PFS of 24.8 months versus 11.1 months, a 13.7-month extension.
Median OS in the ITT population was 44.5 months versus 34.9 months (HR 0.48). The safety profile was manageable and consistent with the known profiles of each drug, with only 14.8% of patients discontinuing treatment due to adverse events. HUTCHMED plans to submit a new indication application in China for first-line treatment by the end of 2026.
