HUTCHMED (00013.HK): Two Phase III Studies Picked for ESMO Orals

NewTimeSpace News: On 24 September 2026, HUTCHMED (China) Limited (stock code: 00013.HK) announced on a voluntary basis that new and updated data from several studies of compounds discovered by HUTCHMED will be presented at the ESMO Congress 2026, taking place from 23 to 27 October 2026 in Madrid, Spain.

Notably, results from two positive Phase III studies evaluating the savolitinib and osimertinib combination have been selected for oral presentations, with both Phase III studies also featured as late-breaking abstracts. Results from the global SAFFRON study will be presented in the Presidential Symposium session by Shun Lu (Shanghai, China), abstract number LBA6, from 16:30 to 18:15 CEST on 25 October 2026. The study evaluated the combination in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with MET overexpression or amplification following disease progression on osimertinib. Positive high-level results reported on 17 August 2026 demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) compared with doublet platinum-based chemotherapy.

Results from the SANOVO study in China will be presented in a Proffered Paper session by Yi-Long Wu (Guangzhou, China), abstract number LBA69, from 08:30 to 10:00 CEST on 26 October 2026. The study evaluated the combination in previously untreated patients with locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC harbouring activating EGFR mutations and MET overexpression. Positive high-level results reported on 31 August 2026 demonstrated a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in PFS and a clinically meaningful benefit in OS versus osimertinib monotherapy. In addition, multiple sponsored and investigator-initiated studies of fruquintinib and surufatinib will be presented as posters or e-posters at the congress.
