NewTimeSpace News: On 15 September 2026, Suzhou Basecare Medical Corporation Limited (stock code: 02170) announced that the freezing solution kit and the thawing solution kit of its Gems vitrification series have recently obtained Class III medical device registration certificates issued by the National Medical Products Administration. The Gems vitrification freezing and thawing solution kits originate from the same research and development system as the Gavi fully automated closed vitrification system, are compatible with the Cryotop® carriers widely used in domestic reproductive centres and, after appropriate adjustment, also fit the Gavi fully automated vitrification freezing instrument, catering to both automated equipment and mainstream manual operation in laboratories.
The announcement stated that the Gems vitrification freezing solution kit adopts a combination of two permeable cryoprotectants, DMSO and ethylene glycol, which lowers the concentration of each single agent and, on the premise of achieving vitrification and inhibiting ice crystal formation, reduces the risk of chemical toxicity to embryos. As for the non-permeable protective agent, both the freezing and the thawing solution kits use trehalose instead of conventional sucrose.
