The marketing application for Piracetam Injection developed by its wholly-owned subsidiary Jiaheng (Zhuhai Hengqin) Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. has obtained approval from the National Medical Products Administration. It is applicable to memory decline and mild-to-moderate cerebral dysfunction induced by acute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders, brain injury and toxic encephalopathy, as well as childhood intellectual developmental delay.
Piracetam Injection is a cerebral metabolism-improving agent, the first racetam-class drug developed based on the structure of inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It activates adenylate kinase, raises the cerebral ATP/ADP ratio, boosts cerebral absorption and utilisation of amino acids, proteins and glucose, accelerates cerebral cell metabolism and elevates the cerebral cortex’s hypoxia resistance.
