CSPC PHARMA (01093.HK): Phase II Trial in China of SYH2066 for RSV Launched

On 22 Oct 2026, CSPC PHARMA (01093.HK) launched a China Phase II trial of SYH2066 tablets, a small-molecule RSV fusion protein inhibitor, for RSV infection.

NewTimeSpace News: On 22 October 2026, CSPC Pharmaceutical Group Limited (the "Company") voluntarily announced that the Phase II clinical trial of SYH2066 tablets (the "Product"), developed by the Group for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus ("RSV") infection, has been officially launched at the first research site in China. The Product is a small-molecule RSV fusion protein ("F protein") inhibitor and is classified as a Class 1 chemical drug for registration purposes.

The announcement disclosed that the Product works by binding to and locking the F protein of RSV, blocking its conformational change so that it cannot mediate membrane fusion between the virus and host cells, thereby preventing the virus from entering host cells for replication. Previously, in September 2025 the Group obtained the Drug Clinical Trial Approval Notice for the Product issued by the National Medical Products Administration, and immediately after approval launched a single-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, single- and multiple-ascending-dose Phase I clinical trial in healthy participants in China to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and food effect of the Product.

The Company stated that the Phase I data have preliminarily validated the safety and pharmacokinetic profile of the Product in humans, with the data showing a good safety profile for oral administration. The trial now launched is a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase II clinical trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the Product in adult participants with RSV infection in China; patient recruitment and screening for the trial are currently progressing actively.
