HENGRUI PHARMA (01276.HK): HRS-1597 tablets approved for clinical trial for weight management

NewTimeSpace News: On 7 September 2026, Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. (stock code: 01276) announced that its subsidiary Shandong Shengdi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.  had received a Clinical Trial Approval Notice from the NMPA for HRS-1597 tablets, with clinical trials to commence shortly.

The announcement showed that the clinical trial application for HRS-1597 tablets was accepted on 10 June 2026 (acceptance nos. CXHL2600691 and CXHL2600692) and, upon review, was found to comply with the relevant requirements for drug registration, with clinical trials for the weight management indication approved. HRS-1597 tablets are a Class 1 innovative drug independently developed by the company, intended for weight management, with no similar drug yet approved in China or overseas. Cumulative R&D investment in the HRS-1597 project amounted to approximately RMB 16.9 million (unaudited).

The company reminded that the drug still needs to undergo clinical trials and NMPA evaluation and approval before it can be manufactured and marketed.
