Yum China (09987.HK): Plans to Acquire Ownership of Pizza Hut Brand in Chinese Mainland for USD1.2 Billion

NewTimeSpace News: Yum China disclosed in an announcement dated June 16 that it proposes to acquire all equity interests in the target company with USD1.2 billion in cash to obtain full ownership of the Pizza Hut brand within the Chinese Mainland.

NewTimeSpace News: On June 16, 2026, Yum China (09987.HK) announced that it has entered into an agreement with Yum! Brands to acquire all intellectual property rights and relevant entitlements pertaining to the Pizza Hut brand in the Chinese Mainland for cash consideration of USD1.2 billion.

Upon completion of the transaction, Yum China will no longer pay franchise royalties for Pizza Hut. The consideration represents an approximate price-to-earnings multiple of 19.5 times, and the closing is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2026.
