Samudera Shipping Line to Sell Two Chemical Tankers for US$22.95 Million, Expected Profit Around US$1.3 Million

NewTimeSpace News: Samudera Shipping Line announced on June 3 that its wholly-owned subsidiary Samudera Tankers has entered into an agreement to sell two chemical tankers, namely MT Sinar Malahayati (built in 2006) and MT Sinar Mendawai (built in 2008), on an entirety basis at an aggregate consideration of US$22.95 million. The disposal is projected to generate an approximate pre-tax gain of US$1.3 million after deducting relevant transaction expenses.

NewTimeSpace News: On 3 June 2026, Samudera Shipping Line issued an announcement confirming its wholly-owned affiliate Samudera Tankers has sealed an agreement for the bulk sale of two chemical tankers. Constructed in 2006 and 2008 respectively, MT Sinar Malahayati has a deadweight tonnage of 12,105 tonnes while MT Sinar Mendawai registers 11,590 tonnes. Both vessels sail under the Singapore flag and are currently tied up under time charter contracts.

Per the disclosure, the full consideration of US$22.95 million will be settled in cash. The Group forecasts a pre-tax gain of roughly US$1.3 million net of all transaction-related costs from the divestment. Proceeds from the net profit will be allocated to general working capital and fleet renewal initiatives.
