(Note on scope: the net asset value per unit and assets under management are as of October 14, 2026; the week-to-date change is measured against the closing price of HK$7.785 on October 9.)

On the news front, the global semiconductor earnings season is unfolding: ASML reported quarterly results on October 14 and flagged that it may be unable to fully meet demand in 2027 and 2028, while TSMC will hold its third-quarter earnings call on October 15, with the market expecting its quarterly profit to grow about 60% year on year.

The CSOP Hang Seng HK-US TECH ETF (03442.HK) tracks the Hang Seng HK-US TECH Index (net total return version). The index reflects the performance of top technology companies listed in Hong Kong or the United States: its Hong Kong sleeve comprises Hang Seng TECH Index constituents eligible for Stock Connect, weighted by freefloat-adjusted market capitalisation, while its US sleeve consists of eight NASDAQ-listed companies — Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, SpaceX and Tesla — equally weighted; weight caps for the two markets are 60% and 40% respectively, with a minimum of 30 constituents.

Dongfang Securities noted that the combined free cash flow of the five major cloud vendors — Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Oracle — was basically zero in the second quarter of 2026, and the market's pricing logic for AI infrastructure is shifting from growth to cash flow; consensus capital expenditure for the five vendors is expected to rise from US$1.59 trillion to US$5.49 trillion between 2026 and 2030, and they have raised about US$450 billion of financing since 2025, including about US$250 billion of debt. Capital expenditure remains a gauge of prosperity but is no longer the only one, and the matching between computing-power utilisation, cloud revenue growth, operating cash flow and funding costs will be key to the next round of valuation differentiation among cloud vendors.
