HK Stock Connect Daily Report: BIDU-SW Accelerates Dual Primary Listing Push; Expectations of September Stock Connect Inclusion Heat Up - 20260819

On August 19, the three major Hong Kong indices diverged. The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.09% to 25,495.07 points and the Hang Seng TECH Index fell 1.21%, with turnover at HKD 253.2 billion. AI hardware stocks fell across the board, with HUA HONG GRACE down 11.79% and YOFC down 10.19%; most robot-concept stocks pulled back, with ESTUN down 14.2%, and Unitree's STAR Market debut surging 629% created a siphon effect. XIAOMI-W rose 4.81% against the tide after results. Southbound capital recorded a net sell of HKD 10.621 billion on the day. BIDU-SW is accelerating its dual primary listing push, with a shareholders' meeting on August 26 and expectations of September Stock Connect inclusion heating up; HKEX announced that three A-share companies will be included in Shanghai Connect from August 24.

I. Market Overview

On August 19, the three major Hong Kong indices diverged. The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.09% to 25,495.07 points; the Hang Seng TECH Index fell 1.21%; and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 0.21%. Full-day turnover was HKD 253.175 billion.

On the market, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) rose 4.81% after results, with second-quarter adjusted net profit of RMB 6.2 billion, up 2.4% quarter-on-quarter. AI hardware stocks fell across the board: HUA HONG GRACE (01347.HK) fell 11.79%, YOFC (06869.HK) fell 10.19%, and ZJ INNOLIGHT (03308.HK) fell 10.06%, as surging long-dated government bond yields across multiple countries pressured valuations of long-duration growth stocks, compounded by OpenAI's slowing Q2 revenue growth and widening losses. Most robot-concept stocks pulled back, with ESTUN (02715.HK) down 14.2%; Unitree debuted on the STAR Market today, surging 629% at the open from its issue price, and the siphon effect dragged on intra-sector divergence. Mainland bank stocks rose against the tide, with ABC (01288.HK) up 2.13%, as commercial banks' net interest margins posted their first quarter-on-quarter rebound in four years. The commercial aerospace concept opened higher but closed lower, with GOLDWIND (02208.HK) down 8.33%, after Zhuque-3 completed the country's first land-based controlled recovery.

Southbound capital recorded a net sell of HKD 10.6 billion on the day. Within that, Stock Connect (Shanghai) saw a net sell of HKD 3.310 billion and Stock Connect (Shenzhen) a net sell of HKD 7.311 billion.

IV. Industry and Corporate Updates

1. BIDU-SW: preparing for southbound Stock Connect inclusion after conversion; shareholders' meeting on August 26

On August 19, BIDU-SW (09888.HK) CFO He Haijian said on the earnings call that the board had approved converting the company's Hong Kong listing status from a secondary listing to a dual primary listing, with the conversion expected to take effect within this year, and that the group is preparing for inclusion in southbound Stock Connect after the conversion. BIDU-SW will next hold an extraordinary general meeting on August 26 to seek shareholder approval on related matters. Jefferies believes BIDU-SW's voluntary conversion to a dual primary listing is a positive signal, with a chance of Stock Connect inclusion in September. BIDU-SW is a potential Stock Connect constituent.

2. HKEX: to include HUADIAN NEW ENERGY, TSI and BEST in Shanghai Connect from August 24

On August 19, HKEX announced that, from August 24, HUADIAN NEW ENERGY (600930.SH), TSI (603262.SH) and BEST (688729.SH) will be included in Shanghai Connect and become CCASS-eligible securities on the same day. After the inclusion, the three A-share companies will be eligible for northbound trading.

3. CIL GROUP issues positive profit alert, expecting first-half profit attributable to owners up about 225%

On August 19, CIL GROUP (01719.HK) issued a positive profit alert, expecting profit attributable to owners of the company of approximately HKD 8 million for the first half of 2026, up about 225% year-on-year. The growth is mainly attributable to an optimized business structure with a focus on terminals and related operations, higher container throughput driving revenue and gross margin improvements, and effective cost control measures. CIL GROUP is a Stock Connect constituent.

4. BOARDWARE INTEL issues positive profit alert, expecting interim profit to surge by no less than 50%

On August 19, BOARDWARE INTEL (01204.HK) announced that it expects first-half 2026 profit to surge by no less than 50%, compared with a profit of approximately HKD 800,000 in the same period of 2025. BOARDWARE INTEL is a Stock Connect constituent.

5. Benmo Power (Beijing) Technology files listing application with HKEX

According to an HKEX disclosure on August 19, Benmo Power (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. has submitted a main board listing application to HKEX, with CITIC Securities (Hong Kong) Limited as the sole sponsor. The company previously passed the HKEX listing hearing on June 29.
