On August 11, Hong Kong's three major indices fell across the board, with the Hang Seng Index down 1.1% at 25,652.82 points, the Hang Seng TECH Index down 1.93%, and turnover of HKD 210.9 billion. Oil stocks bucked the trend, with CNOOC up 3.59% as US-Iran talks hit an impasse and international oil prices surged more than 5%; the innovative drug sector stayed active, with JACOBIO-B up 11.53% after its profit alert; the MLCC theme strengthened, with CCTC up 9.62%. I. Market Overview

On August 11, Hong Kong's three major indices fell across the board, with the Hang Seng Index down 1.1% at 25,652.82 points, the Hang Seng TECH Index down 1.93%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index down 1.09%. Full-day turnover reached HKD 210.942 billion, easing from the previous trading day.

On the board, oil stocks bucked the trend, with CNOOC (00883) up 3.59% as US-Iran talks hit an impasse and international oil prices surged more than 5%, with Brent crude approaching USD 90. The innovative drug sector stayed active, with JACOBIO-B (01167) up 11.53% after its profit alert and ZAI LAB (09688) up 5.28%. The MLCC theme strengthened, with CCTC (06951) up 9.62% as AI demand boosted the passive components market. Gold stocks pulled back from highs, with CHIFENG GOLD (06693) down 6.01% and ZIJIN MINING (02899) down 5.8%. The commercial space sector was under pressure, with GOLDWIND (02208) down 7.99%, weighed by the postponed launch of the Zhuque-3 rocket and the failed launch of the ChinaSat 4B satellite.

Southbound capital recorded net selling of HKD 1.376 billion on the day, of which southbound net buying of HKD 2.004 billion was seen through Stock Connect Shanghai and net selling of HKD 3.381 billion through Stock Connect Shenzhen.

IV. Industry and Corporate Updates

1. Hang Seng TECH Index May Face Its Largest-Ever Revision: Constituents Proposed to Expand to 50, New Standalone AI Theme Added

On August 10, Hang Seng Indexes Company published a consultation paper seeking market feedback on a possible revision plan for the Hang Seng TECH Index. The revision is the largest methodology adjustment since the index was launched in 2020. Key elements include: constituent stocks proposed to expand from 30 to 50; a new standalone "Artificial Intelligence" theme, elevated from a sub-theme, with AI-related constituents proposed to increase from 3 to 6; "Frontier Technology" as a new theme covering aerospace and satellite technology, quantum computing, brain-computer interfaces and other fields; and on stock selection, "revenue growth" is proposed as a supplemental inclusion mechanism in addition to market-capitalization selection, with 40 slots allocated by market cap. As of June 2026, assets under management tracking the index stood at approximately USD 40.4 billion. The revision results are expected to be announced by the end of September 2026, and constituent changes will take effect at the December 2026 index rebalancing.

2. MINIMAX-W to Be Included in HKEX Tech 100 Index, Effective from August 13

On August 10, HKEX announced that MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) has met the fast-entry rules of the HKEX Tech 100 Index and will be added to the HKEX Tech 100 Index and the HKEX Technology and US Technology 100 Index after market close on August 12, 2026, officially effective from August 13, 2026. MINIMAX-W was officially added to the southbound Stock Connect eligible list under Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect on August 6. The fast inclusion in the Technology 100 Index marks another liquidity boost at the index level for MINIMAX-W following its Stock Connect inclusion.

3. TVB Plans to Form JV with Gaw Capital, Investing HKD 2 Billion in AI Computing Services

On August 10, TVB (00511.HK) issued a voluntary announcement that it has entered into a term sheet with Triton Square Limited, a company affiliated with Gaw Capital, to establish a new joint venture to provide advanced computing services for AI-related purposes in Hong Kong. The ordinary voting shares of the JV are proposed to be held 51% by TVB and 49% by Gaw Capital. Project funding sources include equity investment of up to HKD 2 billion from Gaw Capital into the JV, project bank financing and the company's internal resources. The first phase (Stage 1A) of the project plans computing power of approximately 10,000 PetaFLOPS, targeting to commence operations from the fourth quarter of 2027. TVB is a southbound Stock Connect eligible stock.

4. Moore Threads Plans to Issue H Shares and List on HKEX Main Board

On August 9, Moore Threads (688795.SH), a domestic GPU maker, announced that its board of directors approved on August 7, 2026 a proposal to issue overseas-listed foreign shares (H shares) and apply for listing on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. The company stated that the move aims to deepen its internationalization strategy, attract top talent and improve corporate governance. The issuance is still subject to shareholders' meeting approval and must go through filing and review procedures with regulators including the CSRC, the SFC and HKEX; whether it can ultimately be implemented is subject to significant uncertainty. Moore Threads is a STAR Market-listed A-share company focused on full-function GPUs, with products covering AI training and inference, scientific computing, digital twin and other fields.

5. CHINA TOWER's H1 Net Profit Reaches RMB 7.489 Billion, Up 30.1% YoY

On August 11, CHINA TOWER (00788.HK) released its 2026 interim results, with revenue of RMB 48.693 billion in H1; profit attributable to shareholders of the company of RMB 7.489 billion, up 30.1% year on year; and EBITDA of RMB 30.252 billion. The board resolved to declare an interim dividend of RMB 0.19122 per share (pre-tax). CHINA TOWER is a southbound Stock Connect eligible stock.
