NewTimeSpace News: On 19 August 2026, CH INNOVATION (01217.HK) announced that the High Court of Hong Kong ruled in favor of the Company and Xiang Xin and Gong Qing in their defamation lawsuit against Apple Daily, with the defendants ordered to pay HKD 1.5 million in damages plus interest and bear all costs; the plaintiffs settled with the third defendant and ceased claims against the remaining defendants due to failure of service.

NewTimeSpace News: On 19 August 2026, China Innovation Investment Limited (stock code: 01217) announced that the Court of First Instance of the High Court of Hong Kong handed down a judgment on 18 August 2026 ruling in favor of the plaintiffs (the Company, its Chairman Mr. Xiang Xin and Mr. Xiang's alternate director Ms. Gong Qing) in a lawsuit concerning multiple defamatory articles published by Apple Daily. The Court ruled that the first defendant Apple Daily Limited and the second defendant Apple Internet Limited are liable to the plaintiffs for defamation and shall pay total damages of HKD 1.5 million plus related interest, and bear all costs of the case.

According to the announcement, the articles involved, published between November and December 2019, comprised ten articles containing defamatory content, making false and malicious allegations against the plaintiffs, including describing the Company as an intelligence agency and describing Mr. Xiang and Ms. Gong as intelligence personnel or agents. The plaintiffs have reached a settlement with the third defendant Lo Wai Kwong; as court documents could not be served on the fourth to seventh defendants, the plaintiffs decided not to continue pursuing claims against them.

The Board considers that the judgment fully demonstrates judicial fairness, clears the names of the Company, Mr. Xiang and Ms. Gong, and effectively corrects the reputational damage caused by the false news reports.
