Leighton Asia, a Subsidiary of CIMIC, Secures a Data Centre Project in Malaysia

NewTimeSpace News,Leighton Asia, a subsidiary of Australia’s CIMIC Group, announced on February 9 that it has successfully won the main works contract for a data centre project in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The project is part of a greenfield campus development and is scheduled for completion in 2028.

NewTimeSpace News: On February 9, 2026, CIMIC Group issued an announcement stating that its core engineering and construction subsidiary, Leighton Asia, has won the main works contract for a data centre project in Johor Bahru, the capital of Johor State in Malaysia.

According to the announcement, the data centre project is part of a greenfield campus development. Upon completion, the facility will deliver up to 57.6 megawatts of critical IT and network capacity across six colocation buildings. It will also include the construction of supporting administrative facilities, operations support centres, security installations and associated site infrastructure, which can meet the digital infrastructure needs of large technology enterprises.

It is reported that the construction of the project is scheduled for completion in 2028. This is not Leighton Asia’s first cooperation with the client; the company has previously successfully delivered multiple data centre projects for the same client in Indonesia and India, earning the client’s recognition with its proven delivery capabilities. Brad Davey, Managing Director of Leighton Asia, stated that an established team has already been stationed at the project site, and leveraging the profound experience the company has accumulated across Asia, it will deliver this highly technical project in a safe and efficient manner.
