The dollar index and US Treasury yields fell in tandem after the Democrats won both chambers in the midterm elections. A report published by the World Gold Council on November 3 showed global central bank gold reserves rose by 321 tonnes in the third quarter, up 42% year on year and the largest quarterly increase since the fourth quarter of 2024. E Fund Gold Miner ETF (02824.HK) seeks to closely track the Solactive Global Gold Miner Select Index, using a full replication or representative sampling strategy. The index is a net total return, free-float market capitalisation weighted index whose constituents are gold mining securities listed in Hong Kong, the United States, Australia and Canada, with Hong Kong names required to be Stock Connect eligible; it currently holds 30 stocks. The portfolio is concentrated in gold mining leaders including Zijin Mining, Zijin Gold International, Zhaojin Mining, Newmont and Shandong Gold. The product listed on January 30, 2026, with a management fee of 0.9% per year.

ANZ Research notes that the US midterm election outcome pushed Treasury yields lower, enhancing the appeal of precious metals, since falling bond yields typically benefit gold as a non-yielding asset. It adds, however, that investors expect greater constraints on the US fiscal outlook under a Democratic win, which could erode gold's supporting factors over the longer term.
