NewTimeSpace understands that Tracker Fund Of Hong Kong (02800.HK) is managed by Hang Seng Investment Management, with State Street Bank as trustee, and an investment objective of providing returns that closely track the performance of the Hang Seng Index. The ETF primarily adopts a full replication strategy, investing all or substantially all of its assets in the shares of constituent companies in broadly the same proportions as their weightings in the Index; if the portfolio deviates materially from the composition and weightings of the Index, the manager will adjust it when it considers appropriate, after taking into account transaction costs and market impact. The ETF may invest in futures contracts traded on the Hong Kong Futures Exchange, and in exchange-traded or over-the-counter options and warrants, with total exposure to futures, options and warrants capped at 10% of net asset value; the manager currently has no intention to invest in warrants, and the fund may not engage in stock lending. The fund was established on November 11, 1999 and listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on November 12, 1999, with a management fee of 0.045%. As of October 26, the ETF had assets under management of HK$126.07 billion and a net asset value per unit of HK$23.882.

On the news front, according to statistics from Securities Times DataBao, southbound trading turnover reached HK$62.129 billion on October 26, with net selling of HK$2.075 billion—Shanghai Stock Connect saw net selling of HK$731 million and Shenzhen Stock Connect HK$1.344 billion—marking a ninth consecutive trading day of net selling. The Hang Seng Index closed up 0.51% that day.

CICC noted that Hang Seng Indexes Company will announce the results of its annual review of the Hang Seng family of indices after the close on November 20, 2026, with implementation on December 7. Given the scale of passive capital tracking the flagship indices, and based on Bloomberg and Wind statistics, ETFs tracking the Hang Seng Index, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index and the Hang Seng TECH Index hold approximately US$23.78 billion, US$6.20 billion and US$37.10 billion respectively. To minimise tracking error, passive funds typically rebalance on the trading day before implementation, namely December 4, when trading in the affected stocks may surge well above normal levels, particularly in the closing auction.
