On the news front, gold posted its first weekly gain in four weeks after the Fed raised rates by 25 basis points on September 16; World Gold Council data showed global physical gold ETFs drew about US$18 billion in August, the second-largest monthly inflow on record, with assets and holdings hitting record highs; China's gold reserves stood at 76.73 million ounces at end-August, the 22nd straight month of additions.
Southwest Futures said central bank buying supports gold, with crowding in precious metals notably reduced and selling pressure largely released, lifting the asset's long-term allocation value as central banks keep adding and ETF flows return; Huishang Futures said the rebound is mainly a technical repair rather than a trend reversal, with high rate expectations still the key drag on precious metals.
