HK shares ETFs Daily Report: ChinaAMC Hang Seng Biotech ETF Leads with a 4.01% Gain as Biotech and Healthcare Themes Erupt Across the Board — September 30, 2026

On September 30, 2026, the Hong Kong ETF market was dominated by biotech and healthcare themes. ChinaAMC Hang Seng Biotech ETF (3069.HK) led with a 4.01% gain; Global X China Biotech ETF, CSOP Hang Seng Biotech ETF and ChinaAMC Innovative Drugs all rose more than 3.2%, and six of the top ten gainers were biotech- or healthcare-related products. Japanese themes strengthened in tandem, and baijiu also performed. On the downside, STAR 50 themes pulled back, with Bosera STAR 50 Index ETF (2832.HK) falling 2.61% to lead the declines, while resources and technology themes weakened modestly. Among Southbound (Stock Connect) ETFs, biotech products led the gains, three products closed flat, and only two posted small declines.

On September 30, 2026, the Hong Kong ETF market was dominated by biotech and healthcare themes. ChinaAMC Hang Seng Biotech ETF, Global X China Biotech ETF, CSOP Hang Seng Biotech ETF and ChinaAMC Innovative Drugs all rose more than 3.2%, with pharmaceutical and medical themes strengthening in tandem. Japanese themes, baijiu and optical communication also performed. On the downside, STAR 50 themes pulled back while resource and technology themes weakened modestly. Among Southbound (Stock Connect) ETFs, biotech products led the gains and three products closed flat.

The market's leading advancers concentrated in biotech and healthcare themes. ChinaAMC Hang Seng Biotech ETF (3069.HK), managed by China Asset Management (Hong Kong), rose 4.01% to top the gainers; Global X China Biotech ETF (2820.HK), managed by Mirae Asset, gained 3.86%, tracking the Solactive China Biotech Index; CSOP Hang Seng Biotech ETF (3174.HK), managed by CSOP Asset Management, added 3.79%; ChinaAMC Innovative Drugs (3525.HK), also managed by China Asset Management (Hong Kong), rose 3.24%; E Fund (HK) Solactive Biopharma Select Index ETF (3186.HK), managed by E Fund Management (Hong Kong), gained 2.41%; and Ping An of China Trust - Ping An Healthcare 50 Select ETF (3500.HK), managed by Ping An of China Asset Management (Hong Kong), rose 2.31%.

Japanese themes strengthened in tandem. CSOP Nikkei 225 Index ETF (3153.HK), managed by CSOP Asset Management, rose 2.80%; and Hang Seng Japan TOPIX 100 Index ETF (3410.HK), managed by Hang Seng Investment Management, gained 2.19%, tracking the TOPIX Total Return Index. In addition, E Fund (HK) CSI Liquor Index ETF (3189.HK), managed by E Fund Management (Hong Kong), rose 2.97%, tracking the CSI Liquor Index; and Value Partners Optical Communication Active ETF (2811.HK), managed by Value Partners Hong Kong, gained 2.87%—this ETF had ranked among the day's top losers on September 28 with a 6.51% decline.

On the downside, STAR 50 themes pulled back. Bosera STAR 50 Index ETF (2832.HK), managed by Bosera Asset Management (International), fell 2.61% as the day's worst performer; Premia China STAR50 ETF (3151.HK), managed by Premia Partners, dropped 2.42%; and CSOP STAR 50 Index ETF (3109.HK), managed by CSOP Asset Management, declined 2.21%. All three track the STAR 50 Index.

Resource and technology themes weakened modestly. Guotai Haitong Global Strategic Resources ETF (3197.HK), managed by Haitong International Asset Management (Hong Kong), fell 1.53%, tracking the CCXI Global Strategic Resources Index; and Guotai Haitong Global Future Tech ETF (3585.HK), also managed by Haitong International Asset Management (Hong Kong), dropped 1.26%, tracking the CCX Global Future Tech Index.

Vietnam and ASEAN themes also declined. Premia MSCI Vietnam ETF (2804.HK), managed by Premia Partners, fell 0.88%, tracking the S&P Vietnam Core Index; and Premia Dow Jones Emerging ASEAN Titans 100 ETF (2810.HK), also managed by Premia Partners, dropped 0.78%, tracking the Dow Jones Emerging ASEAN Titans 100 Index. In addition, Global X K-Pop and Culture ETF (3158.HK), managed by Mirae Asset, fell 0.66%; Global X China Little Giant ETF (2815.HK), also managed by Mirae Asset, declined 0.66%; and Huatai-PCG HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF (3569.HK), managed by Huatai-PCG Asset Management, dropped 0.52% after rising 1.72% on September 29.

On the downside, Ping An of China Trust - Ping An Technology Select ETF (3406.HK) fell 0.34% and E Fund (HK) FTSE AI Select Index ETF (3489.HK) dropped 0.15%. In addition, ChinaAMC Hang Seng Tech Index ETF (3088.HK), W.I.S.E. - CSI HK 100 Tracker (2825.HK) and CSOP Hang Seng HK-US TECH ETF (3442.HK) all closed flat.

Within Southbound ETFs, biotech led the gains while technology themes posted small declines or closed flat, broadly consistent with the overall market's price direction on the day.

The downside concentrated in STAR 50 themes, with three STAR 50 ETFs entering the losers list and the largest decline at 2.61%. Compared with the prior trading day, the semiconductor themes that led gains on September 29 did not appear among the top gainers on the day, with Huatai-PCG HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF turning to a 0.52% decline; the digital technology and innovative finance themes that ranked among the top losers on September 29 did not appear in the day's losers list. On the Southbound side, biotech led the gains while technology themes posted small declines or closed flat, broadly in line with the overall market direction.
