Data from NewTimeSpace Research Institute shows the market direction reversed overall versus the prior trading day. The dividend and high-yield products that led gains on September 28 did not appear among the top gainers on the day; the gainers list was instead dominated by biotech, semiconductor and STAR 50 themes. The semiconductor themes that posted the steepest declines on September 28 rebounded on the day, with Huatai-PCG HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF and E Fund (HK) Solactive Asia Semiconductor Select Index ETF swinging from -5.63% and -3.94% the previous day to gains of 1.72% and 1.40%, respectively. On the downside, the focus shifted from ChiNext and 5G to Hang Seng TECH and digital technology, with the Hang Seng TECH Index ETF and CMS Hang Seng Tech Index ETF among the leading decliners. On the Southbound side, biotech led the gains and Hang Seng TECH led the declines, broadly in line with the overall market direction.
