HK shares ETFs Daily Report: iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF Leads Alone, Up Over 1.5%, as AI and Semiconductor Names Come Under Broad Pressure — September 11, 2026
On September 11, 2026, the HK shares ETFs market lacked a clear main theme, with capital forming only localized hotspots in a few broad-based products. iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF led alone with a 1.51% gain, while other products posted meagre gains or closed flat and most themes stayed on the sidelines. On the downside, previously active themes — AI infrastructure, semiconductors, little giants and gold miners — pulled back broadly, but the declines were relatively contained, with the largest drop at 2.48%, a moderate adjustment rather than systemic selling pressure. Within southbound Stock Connect ETFs, iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF led the gains, dividend products proved relatively resilient and biotech themes led the declines, reflecting a similar tilt by southbound capital on the day toward broad-based and defensive allocation.
Gains were concentrated in China broad-based and defensive products. iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF (02801.HK), managed by BlackRock Asset Management North Asia Limited, rose 1.51% to lead the gainers board alone, tracking the MSCI China Index (USD), and stood out as one of the few bright spots of the day.
Defensive and income-oriented products edged higher. Hang Seng JPMorgan US Equity Premium Income Active ETF (03476.HK), managed by Hang Seng Investment Management, rose 0.40%; CSOP Mag Seven ETF (03454.HK), managed by CSOP Asset Management Limited, edged up 0.09%, tracking the Solactive US Magnificent Seven Index.
Notably, the bottom seven names on the gainers board all closed flat. Hang Seng S&P 500 Index ETF (Listed Class) (03195.HK) and Hang Seng Stock Connect China A Low Carbon Index ETF (03038.HK), managed by Hang Seng Investment Management; Global X Copper Miners ETF (03014.HK), Global X KOSPI 200 ETF (03408.HK) and Global X India Sector Leader Active ETF (03084.HK), managed by Mirae Asset Global Investments (Hong Kong); Doo Wealth Selected Digital Payments ETF (03412.HK), managed by VGrowth Securities International Financial Group Limited; and CSOP Hang Seng Stock Connect High Dividend ETF (03469.HK), managed by CSOP Asset Management Limited — all closed flat, indicating thin overall trading and a lack of clear long conviction.

Turning to southbound Stock Connect ETFs, the gainers board was led by China broad-based and dividend products. iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF (02801.HK) rose 1.51% to top the list, while CSOP Hang Seng Stock Connect High Dividend ETF (03469.HK) closed flat, with defensive dividend products proving relatively resilient.
On the losers board, biotech and Hong Kong-Korea tech themes came under broad pressure. ChinaAMC Hang Seng Hong Kong Biotech Index ETF (03069.HK) fell 1.64% to lead the declines, followed by CSOP Hang Seng Biotech ETF (03174.HK) down 1.60%, CSOP FTSE HK-Korea Tech+ Index ETF (03431.HK) down 1.15%, Ping An of China Trust - Ping An East-West Select ETF (03477.HK) down 1.09% and Bosera China Reform Hong Kong Central-SOEs High Dividend Yield Index ETF (Listed Class) (03437.HK) down 1.06%.
The split between the southbound gainers and losers boards broadly mirrors the directional tilt of the wider market: China broad-based and dividend products proved relatively resilient, while biotech and Hong Kong-Korea tech themes came under broad pressure, reflecting a tilt by southbound capital on the day toward broad-based and defensive allocation and caution on high-beta tech and biopharma products.

NewTimeSpace Research data show that September 11 was a session characterised by a "single-point breakout with most participants on the sidelines". iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF led alone with a 1.51% gain, while no other product gained more than 0.5% and seven of the top ten gainers closed flat, with capital highly concentrated in a handful of broad-based products. On the downside, AI infrastructure, semiconductor and little-giant themes led the declines, but the largest drop was only 2.48% — a moderate pullback rather than panic selling. Within southbound Stock Connect ETFs, iShares Core MSCI China Index ETF likewise led the gains, dividend products closed flat and proved resilient, and biotech themes led the declines, with southbound flows moving in step with the wider market. The defining feature of the day was not a sharp divergence in strength between sectors, but the absence of a main theme: capital had no clear sense of direction, and most themes stayed on the sidelines.
