Zenshine Pharmaceuticals files for HKEX listing with CICC as sole sponsor; core influenza drug sebaloxavir marboxil tablets already approved in China
NewTimeSpace News: On 26 August 2026, Zenshine Pharmaceuticals (Nanjing) Group Co., Ltd. filed a listing application with HKEX, with CICC serving as the sole sponsor. Founded in 2018, the company is a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the research, development and commercialization of innovative therapies to address medical needs in viral infectious diseases, oncology and inflammatory diseases where existing treatment options remain limited.
Its core product, sebaloxavir marboxil tablets, is an inhibitor targeting the polymerase acidic (PA) endonuclease of the influenza virus. It received NDA approval from the NMPA for the treatment of adult influenza in July 2025, followed by NDA approval for adolescent patients in June 2026, and the company is also developing the drug for influenza post-exposure prophylaxis in individuals already exposed to the virus. The product was officially launched in October 2025 and remains at the market ramp-up stage in China, where the company mainly partners with the national CSO Jumpcan Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., maintaining its distribution network through the latter's established network to expand market share; as of 30 June 2026, the company had established cooperation with 30 distributors in China.
In terms of pipeline, as of the last practicable date the company had developed a pipeline of six proprietary small-molecule drug assets, comprising the commercialized antiviral sebaloxavir marboxil tablets, a late-clinical-stage dry suspension formulation of sebaloxavir marboxil for pediatric influenza patients, a selective extracellular nucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP1) inhibitor ZX-8177 for the treatment of solid tumors (phase 1 clinical stage), and a DNA polymerase inhibitor ZX-12042B for HPV infection at the IND-filing stage. ZX-8177 submitted an IND application to the NMPA in August 2026 (after the last practicable date) for the treatment of hypophosphatasia (HPP), and the company also has two preclinical candidates targeting HSV infection and autoimmune diseases.
Overseas, as of the last practicable date, the oral formulations of sebaloxavir marboxil have not yet been approved in any market outside China. The company is exploring the product's overseas commercial potential through collaborations with local partners, and has established a partnership with the fast-growing UAE pharmaceutical company Cigalah Medpharm Trading LLC to commercialize the oral formulations of sebaloxavir marboxil in the MENA region.
