LAEKNA-B (02105.HK): LAE102 Shows Weight Loss, Lean Mass Gains in Study

On 13 October 2026, LAEKNA-B (02105.HK) said low-dose cohorts of its 24-week LAE102 study showed weight loss, lean mass gains and no serious adverse events.
Key Highlights:
  • Treatment over the 24-week period was well tolerated, with no serious adverse events reported and no reports of diarrhea, muscle spasms or acne, consistent with the previously disclosed SAD and MAD studies.
  • LAE102 is an in-house developed monoclonal antibody targeting ActRIIA; in preclinical models it has shown increases in muscle and reductions in fat, and in combination with a GLP-1 receptor agonist it may further reduce fat and significantly reduce GLP-1-induced muscle loss.
  • The Group is actively seeking partners with global capabilities to accelerate the global development and commercialization of LAE102; the announcement noted that LAE102 may not ultimately be successfully developed and commercialized.

NewTimeSpace News: On 13 October 2026, Laekna, Inc. (stock code: 02105) announced that the Group has completed treatment in the low-dose cohorts of the 24-week monotherapy study of LAE102. The data were consistent with those from the prior single-ascending-dose (SAD) and multiple-ascending-dose (MAD) studies, showing favorable changes in body composition, with the completed low-dose cohorts showing weight loss alongside lean mass increases and fat mass reductions.

The announcement stated that treatment over the 24-week period was well tolerated, with no serious adverse events reported and no reports of diarrhea, muscle spasms or acne. The high-concentration formulation of LAE102 has recently become available and the Group has completed subject enrollment in a high-dose cohort to further evaluate the efficacy and safety of LAE102 at high dose level over a 24-week treatment period.

Laekna said the Group is actively seeking partners with global capabilities to accelerate the global development and commercialization of LAE102. LAE102 is an in-house developed monoclonal antibody targeting ActRIIA, a receptor that plays an important role in muscle regeneration and fat metabolism, and in preclinical models it has shown increases in muscle and reductions in fat. The announcement noted that LAE102 may not ultimately be successfully developed and commercialized.
