REALORD TECH (01196.HK): MOU for Potential AI Data Centre Project in Malaysia

On 8 Oct 2026, REALORD TECH (01196.HK) signed a non-binding MOU for a potential AI data centre project in Johor, Malaysia, with capacity of up to 300MW.

NewTimeSpace News: On 8 October 2026, Realord Technology Corporation (stock code: 01196) announced that its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Realord Smart Computing Technology Group Limited entered into a memorandum of understanding with Longma Smart Computing Investment Limited (the project promoter) in respect of a potential project in Johor, Malaysia involving the design, construction, ownership and operation of the Group's artificial intelligence data centre.

The project is expected to involve the acquisition of land in Johor, Malaysia and the construction of facilities and related infrastructure dedicated to AI data centre development to support artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other high-performance computing applications. The planned facilities are expected to comprise data centre buildings equipped with power supply and distribution systems, cooling systems and other necessary facilities for housing high-performance computing equipment, with a planned total capacity of up to approximately 300MW to be developed in phases, the first phase comprising approximately 100MW.

Under the MOU, the project promoter is expected to assist Realord Smart Computing in discussions with landowners regarding the potential land acquisition and to coordinate technical, commercial and other resources for the project; it has relevant experience and industry resources in AI data centre development, including project planning, construction, operations and management, financing and computing services. The Group will assess the project's feasibility and conduct due diligence, including whether the proposed land is suitable for AI data centre development and relevant regulatory requirements such as land use and the rules and regulations of Malaysia's regulatory data centre task force.

The announcement noted that the MOU sets out the parties' preliminary intentions and provides a framework for further discussions, and is not legally binding except for certain provisions on confidentiality, termination, governing law, dispute resolution and other general matters; as at the announcement date, the Group has not entered into any final agreement on the project, which may or may not proceed. The Group's principal businesses include property development, and the board considers that developing AI data centre facilities presents opportunities in the growing digital infrastructure sector.
