CSPC PHARMA (01093.HK): Phase I clinical trial of SYH2056 tablets for major depressive disorder officially initiated in China

NewTimeSpace News: On 1 September 2026, CSPC Pharmaceutical Group Limited (stock code: 01093) announced that the Phase I clinical trial (protocol number: SYH2056-001) of SYH2056 tablets, developed for the treatment of major depressive disorder, has been officially initiated in China. The trial evaluates the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic profile and food effect of a single oral dose of the product in healthy participants, and participant recruitment and screening are actively underway.

SYH2056 is a small-molecule partial 5-HT2A receptor agonist developed by the Group. While exerting partial agonist activity on the 5-HT2A receptor, the product preserves synaptic plasticity in neurons, and a single dose demonstrated antidepressant efficacy comparable to or better than similar products across multiple animal models. Preclinical studies indicated low risks of off-target effects, hallucinogenic potential and drug dependence.
