Manulife Financial (00945.HK): Reports Q2 2026 Results; Core Earnings Rise 12% YoY to CAD1.9 Billion

NewTimeSpace News: Manulife Financial Corporation (stock code: 00945) announced its financial results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2026. Core earnings for Q2 2026 were CAD 1.9 billion, representing a 12% increase from Q2 2025 on a constant exchange rate basis. Net income attributed to shareholders was CAD 2.1 billion, an increase of CAD 0.3 billion from Q2 2025. Core EPS was CAD 1.09, up 16% from Q2 2025; EPS was CAD 1.20, up 22% from Q2 2025. Core ROE was 16.3% and ROE was 18.0%. The Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT) ratio was 136%.

According to the announcement, compared with Q2 2025, APE sales rose 21% to CAD 2.698 billion, new business CSM increased 16% to CAD 1.024 billion, and new business value rose 10% to CAD 0.929 billion. Global Wealth and Asset Management business recorded net inflows of CAD 0.4 billion, compared with CAD 0.9 billion in Q2 2025. By region, Asia core earnings grew 21%, driven by growth in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan; Canada core earnings fell 10%, reflecting unfavorable claims experience and higher expenses; U.S. core earnings increased 55%, driven by improved claims experience in life insurance and long-term care. As of 30 June 2026, the CSM balance was CAD 27.263 billion. In the first half of 2026, the company returned CAD 2.6 billion to shareholders through dividends and share buybacks.
