SIMCERE PHARMA (02096.HK): First-in-Class Innovative Drug Xibi Xin® (Edaravone and Dexborneol) Included in 2026 National Essential Medicines List

NewTimeSpace News: SIMCERE PHARMA (02096.HK) announced on 9 July that its Class 1 innovative drug Xibi Xin® (Edaravone and Dexborneol Concentrated Solution for Injection) has been included in the 2026 National Essential Medicines List for the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke. Already listed in national medical insurance, it is the sole neuroprotective agent recommended with Class IIa evidence in Chinese clinical guidelines and has benefited over 6 million AIS patients. The inclusion will accelerate penetration into grassroots medical markets.

NewTimeSpace News: On 9 July 2026, SIMCERE PHARMA (02096.HK) released a voluntary announcement. Xibi Xin^®(Edaravone and Dexborneol Concentrated Solution for Injection), a self-developed Class 1 innovative drug of the Group, has been officially incorporated into the National Essential Medicines List (2026 Edition) for the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke. Pursuant to relevant regulations on essential medicines, public medical institutions at all levels nationwide are required to stock and prioritise medicines within the list.

Xibi Xin^® obtained marketing approval in China in July 2020 and was added to the National Reimbursement Drug List in December 2020 with successful renewals thereafter. Two large Phase III trials (TASTE, TASTE-2) validated that monotherapy or combination with endovascular thrombectomy can significantly improve patients’ 90-day functional independence rate with favourable safety profile. It is also the only neuroprotective agent receiving Class IIa recommendation in theChinese Guidelines for Clinical Management of Cerebrovascular Diseases (2nd Edition). Since launch, it has benefited more than 6 million AIS patients.
