OceanScape International: Signs Off-Grid Solar Power Purchase Agreement in Malaysia

NewTimeSpace News: On June 27, 2026, Singapore-listed OceanScape International announced that SSESB, its wholly-owned subsidiary, signed a conditional power purchase agreement with Big Mountain on June 26, 2026. The parties will build an off-grid solar photovoltaic system at Big Mountain’s manganese mining site in Kelantan, supported by a 10MW/30MWh battery energy storage system and three diesel backup generators with a combined capacity of 3,000 kVA.

As stated in the announcement, the PPA includes a feasibility study period of up to six months, during which Big Mountain will conduct technical, commercial and regulatory feasibility assessments on its own and have absolute discretion to decide whether to issue a notice to proceed. The agreement term spans 21 years commencing from the commercial operation date, which is projected for the second quarter of 2027. The estimated annual minimum energy payment stands at approximately RM7.68 million (equivalent to around SGD2.43 million), payable in accordance with contractual terms once the facility is commissioned.
