UNI-ASIA GROUP LIMITED Resumes Newbuild Vessel Orders,Contracts for 40,000 DWT Eco-Friendly Bulk Carrier

NewTimeSpace News,On March 4, Singapore-based UNI-ASIA GROUP LIMITED announced the signing of an agreement with Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. for the construction of a 40,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) eco-specification double-hull bulk carrier, with delivery scheduled for the second half of 2028.

NewTimeSpace News:On March 4, 2026, UNI-ASIA GROUP LIMITED issued an announcement stating that it has entered into an agreement with Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. (NSY) to acquire a 40,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) double-hull bulk carrier, marking the Group’s resumption of newbuild vessel ordering business after more than a decade.

It is reported that the new vessel features prominent environmental attributes, equipped with an eco-type engine and a dual-fuel ready design. The former is optimized to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, while the latter supports the future retrofitting of dual-fuel engines and eco-fuel systems. Delivery of the vessel is expected in the second half of 2028.

UNI-ASIA GROUP LIMITED stated that the ordering of this new vessel is a core component of its long-term strategy to modernize its maritime asset portfolio. The layout of newbuild vessel capacity after more than a decade will help the Group maintain the competitiveness and operational efficiency of its fleet amid the evolving global market environment.
