In the background, US-listed Chinese stocks fell collectively overnight, with the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index closing down 2.35%; Southbound funds net sold HK$4.434 billion on October 21, a sixth straight day of net selling; and the 10-year US Treasury yield rose to 5.13%.
The CSOP Hang Seng TECH Index ETF (03033.HK) tracks the Hang Seng TECH Index. The index covers the largest 30 Hong Kong-listed companies that are highly relevant to technology themes after screening; constituents must belong to the industrials, consumer discretionary, healthcare, financials or information technology sectors, and their businesses must be highly related to themes such as the internet (including mobile applications), fintech, cloud, e-commerce, digitalisation or intelligentisation. It is weighted by freefloat market capitalisation with an 8% cap on any single constituent and is reviewed quarterly. The fund adopts a full replication strategy.
Zhongtai International analysed that in the first half of the year, the global market's core focus was the AI hardware segment with higher growth and earnings visibility, and Hong Kong internet stocks also faced pressure from fund outflows, especially foreign capital — the two main reasons for the sector's first-half weakness. Looking into the fourth quarter, the development of the AI industry chain is one of the most important catalysts for the internet sector, and marginal changes in AI computing power, large models and AI agents are worth watching; on AI applications, programming and office work are currently the most widely adopted areas, and personal agents have recently seen notable user growth overseas — if new application scenarios follow, they will provide a strong catalyst for the sector.
