Tech names initially rose before turning lower, with Tencent Holdings down 1.95%, Meituan down 1.77%, Kuaishou down 1.11%, Bilibili down 1.19% and NetEase down 0.87%, while Xiaomi bucked the trend with a 0.22% gain; lithium battery leader CATL plunged more than 10% after its results. The Hang Seng TECH Index ETF (03032.HK) is managed by Hang Seng Investment Management and closely tracks the Hang Seng TECH Index, primarily adopting a full replication strategy with a board lot of 200 units and a management fee of 0.55% a year. The index represents the largest 30 Hong Kong-listed companies that are highly relevant to technology themes after screening; constituents must belong to the industrials, consumer discretionary, healthcare, financials or information technology sectors, with businesses highly related to themes such as the internet, fintech, cloud, e-commerce and intelligentisation. It is weighted by freefloat market capitalisation with an 8% cap on any single constituent and is reviewed quarterly.
Guoyuan Securities Brokerage (Hong Kong) believes that high interest rates do not necessarily mean lower AI capital expenditure, but they raise the bar on investment returns and amplify differences among companies in financing capacity, earnings quality and capital efficiency; the market's focus on the AI industry chain is gradually shifting from the scale of capital expenditure to whether capital investment can generate sufficient revenue, profit and free cash flow. Hong Kong stocks are still expected to see "index consolidation with internal differentiation and rotation" in the short term; in the technology direction, the focus is on companies that are already profitable, have improving free cash flow and low leverage, and whose capital expenditure can be effectively converted into revenue and profit, while financials, utilities and some consumer directions with stable cash flow can be allocated to reduce portfolio volatility, adopting a barbell allocation.
