On the news front, the US producer price index rose 6.3% year on year in September, far above expectations, and together with the earlier hotter-than-expected consumer inflation put crypto markets under pressure: Bitcoin briefly fell below US$80,000 on October 15 — its first time in about a month — while Ether dropped more than 6% to around US$2,320, and total crypto liquidations over 24 hours exceeded US$900 million, with Ether accounting for US$286 million, the largest share. Crypto markets then rebounded from the lows, with Bitcoin recovering to around US$82,000; according to an OKX summary, spot Ether ETFs ended a 10-day outflow streak with a single-day net inflow of US$24.8 million.

The ChinaAMC Ether ETF (03046.HK) is a spot virtual-asset ETF under China Asset Management (Hong Kong), listed on April 30, 2024, which directly acquires and holds ether and may invest up to 100% of its assets in ether, with results measured by the CME CF Ether-Dollar Reference Rate (Asia Pacific closing); the fund uses the US dollar as its base currency and trades in Hong Kong dollars, with a board lot of 100 units, a management fee of 0.99% a year and no distribution.

Geoffrey Kendrick, head of global digital asset research at Standard Chartered, said in a latest report that the bank has pushed back its forecast for the stablecoin market to reach US$2 trillion from 2028 to 2030; stablecoin supply now stands at about US$309 billion and has stayed in a US$300-320 billion range over the past 12 months, and the stall in supply growth is cyclical rather than structural. Despite the supply plateau, average monthly on-chain stablecoin transfers have approached US$10 trillion this year, up from US$4 trillion in 2025, with usage still growing.
