Zhang Sixiang of the research and development centre at Chasing Securities believes that Hong Kong Connect stocks will most likely trade in a range in the near term, with the offshore liquidity environment and the commercialisation of AI applications to be watched, and that high-dividend directions such as banks form an important component of a balanced allocation. The brokerage also notes that including RMB counters in Southbound trading would broaden currency choices and reduce exchange costs and currency risk, and that allowing insurers to invest in Southbound-listed ETFs matters not only for incremental trading but also for improving the investor structure and converting trading-oriented funds into allocation-oriented ones — though policy benefits will take time to materialise and insurers are expected to deploy in pilot phases.
