On the news front, Japanese AI and semiconductor stocks fell on October 9, with the Nikkei 225 opening lower and dropping as much as 1.29% before rebounding; SoftBank Group fell more than 7% at its intraday low, while Kioxia and Renesas Electronics each fell more than 4%. 

Swissquote senior analyst said that, based on Japan Exchange Group data, foreign investors sold a net JPY2.24 trillion of Japanese stock futures in the week to October 2 while buying a net JPY956 billion of cash equities, a divergence reflecting greater caution over the next leg of the market rally rather than a loss of interest in Japanese stocks.
