CSOP Biotech(03174.HK) up 3.22%, Hengrui Novo license up to $2.6bn

NewTimeSpace News: A fresh out-licensing deal kept sentiment buoyant across biotech shares; as of 10:32 HKT on September 30, 2026, CSOP Hang Seng Biotech ETF (03174.HK) rose 3.22% to HK$3.974, with turnover of HK$1.31m, volume of 332,100 units and a turnover rate of 0.13%.

NewTimeSpace has learned that the ETF is managed by CSOP Asset Management Limited and tracks the Hang Seng Biotech Index, which selects 30 biotech companies listed in Hong Kong from the Hang Seng Composite Index. As of 10:32 HKT on September 30, 2026, the ETF had HK$987m in assets, a net asset value of HK$3.859 per unit and a board lot of 100 units.

On the news front, Hengrui Pharma announced it has licensed the exclusive rights to develop, manufacture and commercialise its self-developed GLP-1/GIP dual receptor agonist HRS-1596 outside Greater China to Novo Nordisk, in a deal with a potential total value of up to US$2.6bn, including a US$300m upfront payment.

BOCOM INTL noted in a research report that the pharmaceutical sector is still awaiting a recovery amid volatility, with divergence within the sector likely to widen, while product ramp-up and pipeline delivery remain the main drivers.
