On the news front, According to data from SoSoValue cited by institutions reported that US spot bitcoin ETFs took in a net US$998.95 million on September 21, the largest single-day inflow since October 6, 2025, with BlackRock's IBIT drawing US$381.4 million. Separately, Financial News reported on September 22 that the total market value of cryptocurrencies returned above US$3 trillion that day for the first time since January this year.

J.P. Morgan said in a research note that bitcoin ETFs have so far recouped only about half of this year's outflows while gold ETFs have fully recovered theirs, and that the heavy short positions built up on bitcoin ETFs create scope for a potential squeeze.
