US AI stocks staged a strong overnight rebound. The NASDAQ Composite Index jumped 2.26% to 27,122 points, setting a new closing high for the first time in nearly four months, while the PHLX Semiconductor Index gained more than 4%. E Fund (Hk) Ftse Ai Select Index Etf (03489.HK) strengthened today, tracking the global AI computing power theme.
Among constituents, US bellwethers advanced across the board overnight: Meta surged 11.43%, AMD rose 9.95% (its market capitalization exceeding USD 1 trillion for the first time), NVIDIA gained 2.30%, TSMC added 2.42%, Broadcom rose 1.60% and Microsoft climbed 1.59%, markedly lifting expectations for the prosperity of the AI supply chain.
On the news front, the direct catalyst was Muse, Meta's personal AI assistant. According to Sensor Tower, Muse replaced ChatGPT last Friday as the most popular free app on the US iOS platform and has continued to hold the top spot. Positioned as an "out-of-the-box" AI task assistant, Muse comes with a dedicated virtual computer and browser configured in the cloud, can connect to user-authorized applications, and handles web browsing, form filling, email processing, shopping price comparison and travel booking, while being deeply integrated with the Meta ecosystem including Instagram and Facebook. Meta's annual Connect conference is imminent this week, and market focus has expanded from new smart glasses products to the convergence of Muse and AI glasses.
Worth noting is that Muse's handling of high-frequency tasks — up to 146 searches for price comparison on a single itinerary, bulk email processing and automated phone negotiations — relies on headless browser automation and high-frequency API orchestration, with workloads shifting markedly back to the CPU. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said current CPU demand far outstrips capacity, with the company able to fill only about 50% of customer orders, and expects PC CPU prices to rise about 10% in October and server CPU prices to increase at least 15% in the fourth quarter. The market views the pull of AI agents on CPU demand as gradually moving from theoretical deduction to real orders.
